with the protesters. >> the man accused of murdering four women decades ago is expected to delay closing arguments in the trial today. 79-year-old naso is representing himself in court. he listened without expression on wednesday as the prosecution began the closing agents. he is charged with the murders of four process stouts in the 1970's. >> only the second date new school year and palo alto high school has the first controversy. the prince pam -- principal sent out a strong message to parents. abc7 news reporter matt keller is at the school. matt? >> today is the second day of class at palo alto high school and the principal said she is putting an end to a disruptive and unsafe tradition. two seniors streaked during lunch on the first day of school year. this is a traditional that usually takes place at the end of the school year called

"streak week." the principal says it has never happened on the first day of class in six years on campus and sent a letter to parents explaining the situation. she wrote when students run through our campus without clothing in the spirit fun, they are creating a hostile work environment for the many employees of palo alto high school but more importantlien a emotionally unsafe environment for students. the principal says the consequences of streaking have not been clear to the students in the past is if anyone is caught streaking they will be suspended and have to meet with the resource officer. >> matt, thank you very much. employees are being cost jobs at the new some are storm according to the "san francisco chronicle", 80 positions are eliminated, a fifth of the staff, officials say attendance is half of what was projected when the science museum moved

low-to-mid 80's through the north bay valley and if you are headed to your wine country, low-to-mid 60's along the coast and temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70's and 73 in oklahoma and berkeley 72 and castro valley is warmer at 80, and up more 80's do low 90's in the east bay valley. another nice night for baseball at the coliseum at 66, and cooler by 10:00 and 61 degrees. we are mostly in the mid-to-upper 50's with a few areas staying in the 60's in the south bay. the approaching low will bring extra humidity but also when it is closer will drop our humidity down and our temperatures and the onshore flow begins but with the circulation it could draw up as it is near sunday with warmer weather, and as it passed off to the east it circulates cooler air back in, so it is a touch

and go forecast over the weekend. >> we hope for a friday light and we got the exact opposite. we have a major accident on the sunol grade northbound along 680 with an overturned big rig block all lanes and traffic is stopped in this area and this will put a tremendous kink in the commute. now over to the waze app i can show you exactly what kind of traffic you can expect so sit in and you can see the cars are not going anywhere and it is completely stopped in the area and c.h.p. is doing their best to take cars off and turn them around. you want to use mission boulevard, and that will be congested so the best advise i have is give yourself plenty of extra time and it will take according to c.h.p., 1 1/2 to two hours to clean it up, an injury accident involving an over turned big rig block all lanes and it will take some time to cheer up. more details coming up in a little bit.

>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. it is friday! >> thanks for joining us. it is the weekend! what is traffic looking like? and the weather? leyla gulen and mike? >> unfortunately i don't have the answer you want. we have a sig-alert northbound 680 involving an overturned big rig. all lanes are stopped. you can see zero miles per hour. we do not see that too often so the traffic is not getting through anywhere. it is causing delays in the southbound direction, as well, and there are alternates: mission boulevard connects you to highway 84 and right back over to 680 and you are on your way which is a round about way. it is an overturned big rig carrying at least 66,000 pounds of something. we will try to figure out what

that is. keep it here and we will have the details as they become visible. the weather was not a factor. according to mike nicco, mike? >> we are tracking fog and mist. novato is down to one mile. quarter-mile visibility at half moon bay. eight miles in santa rosa. it has pick up. most of our report are stations are okay but stepping outside at emeryville, it is still out there. it is not hitting the reporting stations does not mean you will not run into patchy fog. temperatures are cooler today because of a little bit stronger sea breeze and we are 62 at the coast and 66 in san francisco and 70 to 80 an the bay and inland is 82 to 92. >> commuters are planning the labor day week because the bay bridge will be closed for five day to accommodate the opening of the new eastern span. abc7 news reporter amy

hollyfield is in emeryville. not everyone is embracing the plan. >> it will be tough for people would live here in the east bay but work in the city. there is going to be a few days' time they have to find a new way get to work. we have a picket of who will this impact. it will not be an opposite in two weeks from today using the bay bridge. the bridge will be closed. it will be shut down at 8:00 at night at wednesday august 28 to reconfigure the if you lanes. it will be opened tuesday september 3 after labor day. it is a holiday weekend. they believe that will lessen the blow. this will be two weekdays leading up to the weekend which are rough for commuters. >> because it is labor day weekend we hope people will take time off. i will work until friday.

>> the new bridge will open after 11 years of construction. officials say it is important to get people off of the old bridge because it would not hold up in an earthquake. they were going to delay the opening because of the broken bolts but they decided the temporary fix for the bolts would be safe. they will open it on september 3 and demolition of the old bridge will start labor day weekend so it is an end of an era and a few days leading up to this big grand opening, a few tough days for people would need to use and get across the bay. >> bart plans to run limited service an the clock until september 2 in the evening and have not said which stations are

open. the golden gate transit and san francisco bay services will offer special services. >> the original bay bridge was completed this three years opening in 1936, nine months ahead schedule and millions unbudget and then the earthquake caused a section to collapse and it was close god months for repairs but it was clear a long-term solution was needed so the new span project began in 2002 and the western project was retrofitted in 2009 and closed labor day weekend to instadium the -- install the temporary s-curve and this cost is estimated to be totally $6.2 billion. we are 18 daze away from the oning of the new bay bridge. we will have continuing coverage and the big opening on september 3. >> if oakland police are investigating where two were

connection while the man was treated by medics and rushed to the hospital. the two passengers stayed in the car. they were not injured. >> the body of a man found monday on the alameda on-ramp to northbound 880 if san jose is identified as a silicon valley engineer. the medical examiner says that the 51-year-old man died of a weakened heart condition because of chronic alcohol abuse. according to the san jose mercury news friends say he loved to walk and was found not far from his home in san jose. a foam colleague says he was a top engineer before leaving in march and invent add man used at drive through restaurants where customers could swipe the credit cards for quick payment. >> happening today a fundraiser will be held for the san francisco man killed in a party bus accident in portola valley on sunday. friends say 38-year-old man was full of energy and always willing to do favors for others.

tonight the fundraisers starts at the tank in south san francisco. he was the only passenger on the van which veered off the freeway and hit a tree last weekend and police arrested the driver the 43-year-old from daly city on multiple counts including drunk driving, manslaughter, and hit-and-run accident. >> the leaders of the san jose police union rejected a 9 percent pay raise over two year time. union claims the officers are leaving because san jose pays less than other cities and a lawsuit over a voter-approved pension reform plan must be resolve the before officers can get the rays they want. >> a dangerous pink pulled on major hollywood stars has popped up in the bay area called swatting and it involved a phony 9-1-1 call that sends officers racing to the scene. fremont police are investigating whether they had such a call yesterday morning. someone reported a person was shooting a gun at the fremont

the small craft advisory with southwest wind at 15- to 25-knots if you are hanging around the bay shore it will be breezy and same if the coast with wins from the northwest. the wins are fairly quiet and that has allowed the compressed many layer to create the fog and fairfield is 23 degrees so above the parent layer the winds are blowing pretty well and that is 9 extra push of cooler air off the ocean. we have beautiful colors from sutro tower above the compressed marine layer toward mount diabolo and a few of the high clouds that are rolling by and will continue to do so the next couple of days. mostly sunny today and slightly cooler and cloudy tonight and the air mass will start to change and it will not be so humid so we should see the temperatures in more areas fall back in the 50's and a warm spike on sunday jumping ten degrees before dropping off on
